A session with my children.

I decided today to get some fabulous pictures of all of my children together; my 3 handsome sons and beautiful daughter. I was looking for something I could put on a canvas and hang above my computer. The only one I currently have is the one at the top of my personal blog {click here if you’d like to see it}. It does the job, but it’s not exactly what I had in mind.

So today was the day! Picture day.

Some things I overlooked…

A. My husband is in South America. I was on my own. I should have remembered I do better with his support {and calming influence}.
B. My eldest son is preparing for finals and had no desire to stop studying to take family pictures. He was a little grumpy.
3. Miss B is 18 months old and really doesn’t love getting her picture taken. {I think it’s the standing still or possibly being told what to do.}
D. I’d just finished a 90 minute shoot with a busy two and a half year old. I probably should have taken a break, or planned for another day when I was fresh.
5. I was operating on 5 hours of sleep last night.
F. I think that’s enough to demonstrate I was completely out of my mind.

It wasn’t the best experience. You may have seen my facebook post earlier. I was… not so patient. The phrase scarred for life comes to mind. Sorry kids. But thanks for trying! You’re awesome!

When we were done and I had calmed myself, I decided to try and get a few with Miss B in her new Matilda Jane duds. I was more relaxed, and so was she. It was a typical toddler photoshoot. It didn’t last more than 12 minutes. Short, sweet and child led. When Miss B was done… we were done.

    Thanks for sharing your “scarred for life” experience…it’s comforting to know there are other families out there that feel they’ve done that very same thing :) Loved all the shots you got of Miss B….all her little details! And the one of all your beautiful children is great too!

    love all of them. I can relate, poor carter got the brunt of it at our photo-shoot. He’s at that weird smile age and it was frustrating Brady. The best smile from him was the one right after he kissed T on the cheek, true JOY. We are gonna have our hands full.

    Miss B is such a charmer!! I think you took some amazing shots even with all those ‘overlooked’ points. And I would not worry about being ‘scarred for life’…one day these kids will look back and remember it as something good.
    Scarred for life? You should have taken a road trip with me and my family!

    Been there done that! at least the scarred for life ranting mother situation. I have a couple of attempted Christmas pics that look like someone was pinching my kids to make them smile. Um, that doesn’t work!
