I woke up happy this morning. I could sense it… something was different. What was it? Oh yes! Christmas Break!
We had a delightful morning.
Music playing… kid’s dancing… Mom laughing.
I’m taking the next two weeks off from Simply b (mostly).
My eldest son passed his final exams with flying colors and also has two weeks off.
My youngest are on their best behavior knowing Santa is making final preparations for this weekend.
We have iTunes playing our holiday music.
My shopping is done (wrapping still to be finished).
Plans are complete for our annual Christmas Eve party.
Yep… we’re ready.
But I still have one Christmas wish.
I’m hopeful my husband’s plane is getting fixed as I type this and crossing my fingers he’ll be home in time for Christmas.
I took some pictures this morning. I’ve been so busy lately, I’ve been negligent in my documentation of our family life.
But this morning felt like old times.
Miss B is a light in our home. Her smile brightens our lives. There are times (like this morning) when we just sit around and watch her.
She’s the best entertainment of all.

So many different expressions.
But she just takes my breath away.
And then we turn on some music… and she starts to dance.
We can’t help it. We all join in.

Her brothers are as smitten as her father and I.
She loves every minute of it.
It’s Christmas time.
My favorite time of the year.
From our house to yours…
Merry Christmas.

Oh my gosh…that was sweetest Christmas card ever! Praying Jake makes it home….
Oh Amy, this is wonderful! She is such a cutie and I can see how much all of you love her!! Thanks for sharing a peek into your life! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and I miss you guys tons! Everyone is so grown up. Love the pictures and how about sending some of that sun our way.
Amy I love reading about your lives! I have always been inspired by you. Isn’t being a mom the best!? And as much as I love my boys, those little girls just have something about them don’t they? I’m so excited to have another! I look at the fun relationships my sisters and I have together with my mom and can’t wait to grow up seeing that with me and my daughters. So grateful to know you and your amazing family!
love

Such precious simple yet completely heartfelt captures! Each one of these made me smile….reminded me that I definitely need to get my camera out while I’m on break and capture a few family moments myself.
I truly hope that he is back in time for Christmas!
may i ask what lense you use? They are simply beautiful! So pristine.
p.s. I adore your photos.
Shaina, Thank you! I used a 50mm 1.4 lens in these shots. I also use a 24-70 2.8 occasionally. But I really prefer the 50mm. You can get a 50mm 1.8 for about $100. It’s a great lens for the price!
Thanks Amy!
I have been using my 50mm 1.8 that i purchased a few months ago, but i find a huge problem I’ve been facing is that it is extremely slow on the auto focus and most of my photos come out blurry- especially indoors and with photos of kids.
I’ve been wanting to try a 1.4 though- i suppose a 1.4 and an upscale on a quality lens may help my issue eh?
