Miss B’s Tea Party in the Woods

Miss B’s second birthday {June 1st} came and went without fanfare. I had an idea I wanted to try, but it took me a few months to put it together. It took coordinating schedules, the weather and a variety of gorgeous cakes and cupcakes made by the talented Fondant Flinger. My sister Elizabeth spent weeks looking for all sorts of items I couldn’t find on the island and made the beautiful runner for the table. I’d seen crowns I loved on Etsy, but wasn’t able to communicate with the seller to get some made and so Jake made them for me. I found the perfect shoes to match her dress on my last trip to Anchorage (thank you Baby Gap!) I borrowed cake plates and made a last minute trip to town to get flowers just minutes before the shoot started.

It was worth it.

The best part? Her brothers {and daddy} were as excited about it as I was. They love Miss B more than anything. Watching them play Ring Around the Rosie brings pure joy to my heart. There certainly cannot be a luckier little girl {or big brothers} in all the world. She is truly loved.

We used our prized teacups for the shoot. I wasn’t sure about it at first {and I was nervous about them the entire time}, but it added a personal touch that couldn’t have been achieved any other way. This was truly a special tea party for Miss B and her brothers. And the memories they made will last forever.

Kris Arnold - My only question is – why no pictures of mommy and Miss B? What a GREAT day! My good friend Doreece has the most wonderful mother, Barbara, who throws a Valentines Day Tea for a handful of special girls and their mothers. She lays out all her fancy old costume jewelry, gloves and hats on her bed for all of us to go choose an ensamble from. She has gorgeous tea cups and tea pots she picks up from specialty stores to flea markets, depending on what strikes her fancy. There are scones and tea cakes that she puts together and we have the most wonderful time. It is a great day for all. In the middle of a cold Kodiak winter, it’s a wonderfully warm day full of good things. Miss B’s tea party might just turn into a great tradition for you all as well. Her brothers are so sweet to dote on her the way they do. What great future husbands and daddys you are raising there! Way to go Amy!
(still looking forward to meeting you one of these days!)

jeanine - These photos are so wonderful! What an awesome way to throw a party…especially for a little Princess Miss B. There were a few of the pictures that reminded me of the book”Where the Wild Things Are”..Do you see the ones I mean? Big Brothers dancing and playing ring a round the rosies with Ms. B….
Thank you for sharing your “work”. : )

Amy Earle | Simply b Photos - Thank you! Kris, I was thinking the same thing (Why no Mommy in the pictures?) during the shoot. But after spending the entire day running around preparing for the session, the last thing I wanted to do was get ready for pictures. So there I was with my hair pulled back in a pony tail, no makeup, and comfy clothes. I do want to do some pictures of Miss B and I though. It’s on my list. What a fun idea your friend has!

Jeanine, I agree! With the crowns and the dancing, it does have a bit of the “Where the Wild Things Are” going on. My husband said Jacob (our oldest) reminded him of Max!
