Simply b Photos » The Big Blue Bus Tour

Nothing less than beautiful.

My sister (Tammy Smith Photography) has started offering a new type of photography session. It’s called Captivate. The premise is that you and your bff have a girls day out and get your pictures taken. Before the session you get your hair and makeup done! I can’t stand how amazing this is! As women, mothers, wives, daughters, sisters… we put ourselves last. Everyone else comes first. But with this new session, it’s a time to indulge in special treatment for yourself that will last a lifetime. It’s your chance to shine.

What’s even more amazing is that Tammy is offering these sessions (with a CD of pictures) for $250 per person! If you live in Kodiak, the next time you go to Anchorage, you must look her up and book a session! Her studio is in Wasilla, and it is definitely worth your time.

Our departure from Kodiak is imminent. The moving container arrives tomorrow and we’ll be starting our cross-country move (and adventure) to Clearwater, Florida in no time. But I just had to make room in my schedule to try these out.

I’m sharing the before/after images to show you that these beautiful women are just like you and me! They wear their hair in ponytails, they have children, their lives are filled with service to others. Even in their everyday wear they are full of beauty and love. Given the chance to take time for themselves, they are stunning and just shine.

I wish I could tell you just how much I love these women. They are incredible friends and examples of how I want to be. Sharing this experience with them was one of my most favorites moments in the last two years of Simply b! I only wish I had time to do more before we left, and I can’t wait to try these out in Florida after we get settled.

Audrey: Mom to a 5 month old miracle named Birdie. She has spent the last 5 months in a sleepless stupor and is one of my most very favorite people in the world. Before Birdie was born, Audrey was the most coveted preschool teacher on the island. Her repertoire with children is nothing less than amazing. She and I can sit and talk for hours and it feels like no time has passed. I will miss her so much when we leave.

Jana: Mom to 3 amazing children and the talent behind J. Marie Designs. She shares her talent so freely with everyone. I am amazed by her generosity and pure heart. You will never hear her speak ill of another. I hope Jana doesn’t mind me sharing this, but she lost something like 240 pounds. She is so beautiful, but doesn’t even see it. To capture these images of her made me so, so happy. I’m blessed to know her.

Rachel: I have the most talented friends! Rachel is mom to two super little boys and the beautiful woman behind the amazing Fondant Flinger. She has built such a successful business here in little Kodiak that she is in constant demand. She did the cakes for Miss B’s special tea party last summer! I have been honored to photograph her delicious creations for the last year or so and I can attest to Rachel’s beautiful spirit. She’s so kind and helpful to everyone. She’s a baker and spends most of her day with her hair pulled back, in an apron, and covered in flour. But here is the real Rachel. Gorgeous.

Michelle: When I was looking for someone to do hair and makeup for everyone, Michelle came right to mind. She and her family are getting ready to move and she is finishing a long school semester, yet she came and spent the day with us doing hair and makeup for everyone. Because that’s how Michelle is. She just helps when she’s needed. And she did the most amazing job. Thank you Michelle!!

She is a mom to 3 children and I just love her. She’s an incredible mother, wife, and friend. I asked if her husband, Alex, wanted to come at the end of the session to get some pics of them together. They are the best couple, I love these pictures of them. Alex has “the smolder” (Tangled) down pat and was such a great sport!

Audrey - Wow! I love them! It was EXACTLY what I needed to pick my self esteem up off the floor. It had been down there for a while. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Love you Amy!

karen hansz - Amy, Thank you for sharing YOUR talents and blessings with us, too! Your facebook posts, your photos, your blog, they are all so inspiring.
This photo session is inspiring! I get to see some of your “subjects” in every day mode at our dental office and the transformation both inside and out is amazing. What a blessing to be able to transform their inner beauty and capture it for a lifetime. It is so wonderful to share your talents with the rest of us and to take the time to figure out how to teach us as well. I really appreciated the work you put into the photography class we just took (during your pre-move- first two weeks of juicing- how did you do that?) and am looking forward to putting the pieces I learned into practice during my vacation in Michigan. Thanks again for sharing your blessings!
