{52 Dresses} Week 3 | Bownanas GIVEAWAY!

In case you missed it, you should catch the recap of {52 Dresses} Year One.

The skinny on Year Two:

  • I’m working with boutique businesses who create fabulous children’s fashions!
  • I’ll be spotlighting a business each week; sharing their talents with you!
  • A little AWESOMENESS: I’ll be doing a G I V E A W A Y every week!
  • We may give away the actual dress or a gift certificate to get something from their Etsy store, either way, make sure you tune in each week to enter!
  • (NOTE: In the event that a gift certificate is given away instead of the dress, the dress will join the others that are being sent to little girls in South Africa! How awesome is that?! I can’t wait!)

This week’s dress is sponsored by Bownanas! The owner, Heather, is so great! I was introduced to her work for the first time when I did a newborn session early this year. She had made the most darling onesie and ruffle diaper cover for the little girl. I couldn’t wait to work with her and I’m so glad that she’s a part of {52 Dresses}!

I LOVE this dress that she sent me (along with the matching hair clip). Miss B was just so cute in it!

The dress that she sent me will be going to South Africa and this week she’s giving away a $25 gift certificate to her Etsy Store. I love that she’s giving away a gift certificate because she doesn’t just make dresses! She has all kinds of custom embroidery for boys and girls!! You’ll find the details on how to enter at the bottom of the post!

Here’s a little about Heather:

“Initially when Amy asked me to write a biography about myself, I really hesitated. I normally do not just “spill the beans”, I tend to be more interested in hearing other peoples stories. I find them much more interesting than my own. I have come to realize that every person’s story has a lot of ups, downs, and in betweens. I have learned to embrace all three of them, maybe that is a quality that develops from the uncertain certainy of being a Coast Guard wife. Here it goes…

I have been married to an amazing man for the last 13 years. He continues to humble me everyday with his kindness, loyalty, and patience. (He needs lots of patience with three girls in the house) It is because of his love that I realize that love can not be measured. There is not limit, it will just grow and grow if it is nurtured.

We have two beautiful daughters who are completely different in every way possible. Emma who will be 13 in January is an old soul with a witty sense of humor and a natural tendancy to follow rules. My youngest Chloe who will be 8 in just a few months is a free spirit who is incredibly niave and trusting. She seems to always want to cross every line and boundary set for her. I love them both for each of those qualites.

I started my business, Bownanas, about 3 years ago, while we were living in a small town in North Carolina. I realized that it truly was a passion to sew and create designs for my daughters as well as other little girls that loved to dress up. I branched out into embroidery and began designing t’s and making custom outfits for birthdays, vacations, and other special events. I just can’t tell you what a joy it is to see a child enjoying their life and making memories in something that I made.

I was totally shocked when we learned that the Coast Guard would be sending us to Kodiak, Alaska last summer. Alaska seemed like another planet away from the East coast and I have to say, still does now that we are here. The island of Kodiak has shown me God’s beauty first hand, like I have never experienced. The people here have charmed their way into my heart also. To top off our time here, it’s the perfect place to sew and be inspired, there are plenty of cold and rainy days to have a great excuse to stay in and sew. The days that are beautiful are few and far between, but they take your breath away! My machines go off and I am out the door…I truly have learned to appreciate that small things living on a laid back Island for the last year. I believe that I was meant to be here at this moment in time.

I am truly blessed in this life and I just loved…No, ADORED the idea that the dress that I donated to Simply b Photos was going to a child who was in need and would appreciate it from a place in their heart that I may never be able to understand. What a blessing for us all. Thanks to Amy for this opportunity.”

I love the custom hair clip that goes with the dress! Heather has some serious talent!!

Oh my goodness! She cracks me up! I don’t know what goes through her head some days!

She’s growing up so fast! I just can’t believe she’s turning into a little lady.
