I love this family! We met while we were both living in Kodiak, Alaska. Becca is a fellow photographer (she’s very talented) and their oldest daughter is just a couple weeks younger than Miss B. We’ve kept in touch since they moved away from Kodiak to Mobile, Alabama last year. I had the opportunity to take family pictures for them several times in Kodiak, and jumped at the chance to photograph their new baby. After all, Mobile is only 8 hours from Tampa! So, why not?
We left our kiddos in the capable hands of a friend and Jake and I had a mini vacation. We were gone only 30 hours, but it was 30 hours alone, without children. The 16 hour drive was a blissful combination of quiet and quality conversation. I would do it again in a heart beat!
Especially if I could do sessions like this. A lifestyle session is very different compared to a studio session. It’s not about the structured poses, it’s about the connection of the family. I loved capturing all these little moments. Older sister was going through the typical transition from being an only child to having to share the attention, but she handled it with grace: a little kiss here, a quick hug there. All while keeping an eye out to make sure that baby sister wasn’t stealing all the limelight. Mom and dad were doing an incredible job as well. Sleep deprived and running on fumes, but still so in love with this little bundle of joy and their new family of 4.
Congratulations Becca and Jason! You have a beautiful family!
