Photoshop Tutorials

You may know that I teach workshops on how to use your camera. I’ve been teaching for almost 3 years and it’s one of my favorite things to do. I’ve traveled all over the United States and I also teach them online. My goal is to teach you how to get the image right in camera so you don’t have to spend as much time in post processing.

Here’s my take on Photoshop: you can take a good image and make it a work of art in Photoshop, but you cannot take a bad image and make it good. Believe me, I’ve tried. Which is why it became imperative for me to learn how to take a great image to start with. If you lack confidence in getting the image that you want straight out of camera, make sure you check out my workshop!

However, if you are looking for the basics on how to edit your images in Photoshop, check out these tutorials.

I also offer a full Photoshop course that teaches over FIVE hours of Photoshop tutorials and covers my entire workflow including Lightroom! You can find more about the workshop here.

*Basics of the brush tool (Important to know before learning how to use the layer mask)

*Spot Healing Brush Tool – Removing distractions for your photo (acne, people in the background, signposts, etc)

*Swapping Heads #1 (New video will be up shortly on how to use a layer mask! That will help immensely when “swapping heads”.)

Melissa Sterrett - Hi Amy,

So quick question. I have been experimenting with the spot tool. When I was in photo shop I started by removing all my distractions. Then I did a sharpening action and then used one of the Flora Bella actions. Everything was going good until I lowered the Flora Bella action down to 50%. Then all the distractions I had removed popped up again! Any suggestions?

Thanks! Melissa

Amy Earle | Simply b Photos - Melissa, that is a great question! It sounds like you need to “flatten” your layers before you start using your actions.
