Two weeks ago today Jake came up with the plan for our bus tour. A lot can happen in two weeks.
Our house is almost packed. We’re down to the dregs – the piles of stuff that are not easily dealt with. The odds and ends of our life. Although we’ll be loading the bus this weekend, we’re not leaving for Alaska quite yet. Miss B wishes desperately that we were already on the road. She loves the big blue bus. She asks us no less than 18 times a day if it’s time for us to go to Alaska. I’m afraid she’ll be a little disappointed when she learns that even after the house is empty and the bus is packed, we still have close to a month before we hit the road. We’ll be at a beach house for a couple weeks and then we’re going to Puerto Rico to visit some friends and I’ll be teaching a workshop down there. After all of that, then we can leave for Alaska.
Jake and I have been busy doing what we do. I’ve been sketching plans for the interior of the bus, setting up the blog, starting a Facebook page just for The Big Blue Bus Tour, ordering travel cards that we can pass out to those we meet along the way, and backing up images in preparation for moving. Jake has been packing. And packing. And packing.
I wonder if we’ll ever finish and be ready to move out by the end of the month. When I ask Jake he simply replies, “Of course we will, we have no other choice.”
He’s right. We’ll just keep sorting, whittling, purging, and packing. Hopefully soon we’ll be done with this part of the experience and we’ll be moving onto the next.
