Lots of changes happening here at Simply b Photos. My family is transferring with the Coast Guard this summer from Kodiak, Alaska to a currently unknown location. We’re anxiously awaiting orders. It’s honestly killing me not knowing where our next adventure will be.

Unfortunately my schedule is currently full through March, but you are in luck if you were wanting to get an outdoor family session in April or May as I have several sessions available. Please contact me as soon as possible as I anticipate these sessions will fill quickly.

I also have openings for newborn sessions. Available newborn sessions are set in your home and include video as well as still images. For details please see the newborn section below.

About a family session:

My goal is to capture the connection of family. When a moment transcends a simple photograph and becomes a treasured memory, then I have accomplished what I set out to do.

I want to spend our time together capturing moments that reflect the essence of your family and record the connection that you have with each other. If your family is anything like mine, you love them like crazy even though they may drive you crazy and are certainly not perfect. Those imperfections are what make you unique. The details are what set you apart and define who you are. That is what I am looking for during your family session. The pieces that make you who you are.

Your family has a story to tell and I want the chance to tell that story for you.

At this time I no longer offer studio sessions and family sessions will be set outdoors. I have loved working in my studio and cherish the images I have taken of so many families and children as well as my own children there. It’s a controlled environment that allows me to set parameters and expect consistent results. But as I recently searched through thousands of images of my own family, I realized that my most beloved photographs were not taken in the studio. They were set in real life.

Real life can be messy and it certainly isn’t easy. It’s inconsistent. Lighting shifts, weather is unpredictable, locations change with the seasons, and wide-open spaces encourage children to do anything but sit still and look at the camera. But that is when the magic happens. That magic is what I want to continue creating for you.

The Details

Family sessions start at $400 and include 25-30 edited images on CD with a print release.

Why a CD with digital images?

Often when you are presented with having to purchase prints, you have to choose between the “best” picture and those that make you smile and sigh.  I want you to have not only the picture perfect images, but also the fun, quirky moments that are unique to your family.

Having the digital files also allows you to print them where you would like, when you like. I will also include a file of web ready images that are perfect for email, blogging and sharing on Facebook.

NEW! Video Add-On – Introductory Price: $200 (Normally $400)

You have the option of having your family session captured with video as well as still images. Video will capture the silly smiles, teasing tickles, and bouts of laughter. It captures the twirls, the running, jumping and skipping. It completes the story of your family.

There is something about video, still images, and music that when brought together evoke emotion and record memories unlike anything else I’ve seen. This unique approach to capturing moments for your family will be treasured for a lifetime.

About a Newborn Session:

There is nothing more beloved, adored, or cherished than a newborn baby. For me, one of my most vivid memories with each of my children is bringing them home for the first time. Those first days together as we ignored the world and bonded together are treasured times.

Rather than have you bring your baby to my studio, I will come to you for those precious first pictures. Why? Because I want to capture more than your typical newborn portraits.  In your home you are comfortable and at ease with your baby and I am able to photograph the connection you have in a more complete way.  If you have a nursery, I can document all the details that you have so lovingly prepared for your new arrival. As well, the images of your family together with your new little one in your own home will be cherished for always.

As part of the newborn session, we will also take video!  Video captures the wiggles and yawns and kisses and cries. The video will be combined with still images and music to create a masterpiece to share with friends and family. The best part will be sharing the movie with your child as they grow!

The introductory price for the newborn session is $400 (normally $600) and includes 20-25 edited images on a CD with a print release. It also includes a DVD of your family’s movie. Additional DVDs can be made upon request to send to family (grandparents!) and friends for an additional charge of $10 each.
